Our read

A precise, low-slung mountain shoe for runners who tackle rough, technical ground and want a wide-toe-box GTX option. Its firm, low-stack ride rewards agility but offers little forgiveness over long, smooth miles.

Ride

Firm and low to the ground with a 6mm drop and forefoot rock guard, giving strong ground feel and stability on technical terrain. The FriXion Red outsole with 4mm lugs grips well on wet, loose and off-camber surfaces.

Fit

Wide fit adds roughly 7mm of forefoot circumference and 2mm of toe-box height over the standard Performance last, with a sock-like slip-on wrap. Still a snug, foot-hugging shoe overall rather than a roomy one.

Best for

Technical mountain and off-camber trails in wet, snowy or sandy conditions where grip, stability and a wider toe box matter.

Avoid if

You want soft, high-stack cushioning for long road-to-trail miles or need breathability in hot weather, since the GTX membrane runs warm.
